Community Update: The Anchor Project

After a thorough reassessment, the Julian of Norwich Parish (GHC) has made the difficult decision not to proceed with The Anchor as originally planned.  Given the current unstable environment, MHI acknowledges and supports this decision. One of the primary obstacles has been securing the necessary funding to bring The Anchor to life. Despite dedicated efforts, the financial landscape has made it impossible to obtain the required support at this time.

Future Opportunities
While this outcome is disappointing, MHI remains committed to developing safe and supportive housing. Moving forward, there is potential to repurpose The Anchor’s architectural plans through the redevelopment and densification of existing older housing communities within the housing communities MHI obtained through the recent amalgamation with Gloucester Housing Corporation. This approach provides a more viable path to addressing the ongoing need for affordable housing.

MHI extends sincere appreciation to all who have contributed to this effort, particularly the Anglican Diocese and the Julian of Norwich Parish. Although this specific project will not move forward, the commitment to creating housing solutions remains strong.
