Keep calm & tulipathon: mhi fundraiser goes virtual!
Tulipathon goes ahead every year rain or shine.... even in the midst of a pandemic! MHI will be together in spirit (but not in person) on May 31 as we take a solo stroll or household hike for affordable housing!
WE WON'T BE MEETING AT DOW'S LAKE THIS YEAR. Every year, MHI hosts Tulipathon, a walkathon fundraiser at Dow's Lake. MHI’s 70+ faith group members are invited to walk among the tulips and raise money for the tenants who live at MHI. Out of concern for everyone's health and safety, MHI will not be hosting the walkathon event at Dow’s Lake in 2020.
WE ARE ASKING PARTICIPANTS TO COMPLETE AN INDEPENDENT 3KM WALK ON SUNDAY, MAY 31. Lace up your running shoes and complete a solo stroll or household hike on the last Sunday in May. We want you to walk in the woods, we want you to walk in the parks, we even want you to walk on the treadmill if you like. The only thing we ask is that you respect any social distancing guidelines that are in place on May 31.

WE WILL BE FUNDRAISING DIFFERENTLY THIS YEAR: We are collecting funds in three different ways this year:
MHI'S BANNER COMPETITION FOR FAITH GROUPS/TEAMS WILL BE REPLACED BY A "MINI BANNER COMPETITION." Normally, MHI faith groups construct a banner for the walk, and judges select the top three winners. This year, MHI is running a “mini banner” contest. Your banner can be small – an 8.5” x 11” banner made with household supplies will be just fine!

JOIN OUR "PROUDLY SUPPORTING TULIPATHON" WINDOW CAMPAIGN! Let your neighbours know you support Tulipathon! MHI has created 5.5” x 8.5” display cards that bear the message “Proudly Supporting Tulipathon,” which you can put in your window leading up to May 31. Order your desired number of cards, or print a 8.5” x 11” sign from a home printer.

CONSIDER DOCUMENTING YOUR SOLO STROLL OR HOUSE HOLDHIKE ON SOCIAL MEDIA. Let’s keep everyone’s spirits up! Photograph yourself with your “Proudly supporting Tulipathon” card – or make your own poster – and email the photo to us for our website at communications@multifaithhousing.ca. We’d also love if you posted photos (or even short videos) of your walk and tag us on Facebook and Twitter.
THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC MEANS YOUR SUPPORT IS CRUCIAL.... MHI NEEDS YOU NOW MORE THAN EVER. MHI is considered an essential service. Our operations continue during the COVID-19 pandemic, as does the construction of Veterans’ House. Unfortunately, MHI does not qualify for any of the recently announced special COVID-19 government relief programs for charities. As we continue our operations in the face of COVID-19, everyone’s support means the world to MHI and the tenants we serve.
Thank you and let’s #keepcalmandtulipathon! |
