important info: how to support virtual tulipathon 2021 by cash, cheque OR PHONE

We're encouraging as many people as possible to fundraise for Tulipathon online this year.  However, if you're still collecting money the old-fashioned way, that's OK! Print off the pledge form and start fundraising for our Tulipathon walk on Sunday, May 29, 2022!

CAN I COLLECT CASH AND CHEQUE FOR TULIPATHON THIS YEAR?

Yes, the pledge form contains the option for donors to support Tulipathon by cash and cheque.  However, cheque donations are strongly preferred over cash.
You might also want to consider not collecting at all, and instead directing your donors to give to MHI directly by cheque, phone, or if necessary, cash (see "Can my sponsors donate to MHI directly?" below).

HOW CAN I GET MY PLEDGE FORMS AND MONEY TO THE MHI OFFICE?

You can bring your pledge forms and cash/cheques to the walk on May 29. If you want to continue fundraising after the walk (until the deadline on June 30), here's how you get get your collections to us:

• Cheques only: If you only received cheque donations, please mail the cheques and your pledge form to: Multifaith Housing Initiative, 404 McArthur Ave., Suite 206, Ottawa ON, K1K 1G8.
• Cash (or a combination of cash and cheques): For security reasons, please do not put cash in the mail. If you opt to collect cash donations, please call 613-686-1825 to set up an appointment for MHI to receive your donations and pledge form. (Alternately, you can save yourself a trip by writing one cheque to MHI for all cash collected and mailing that cheque with your pledge form/other cheques to the MHI office.)

what if my donors prefer to donate by phone?

We can accept donations over the phone by credit card. Just ask your donors to call (613) 686-1825 and indicate they wish to make a donation to Tulipathon. (The donor should also indicate if they want their donation to support the fundraising efforts of a particular individual and/or team.) If nobody picks up the phone, the donor should just leave their name and number, and a staff member will return the call as soon as possible. Please do not include any phone donations on your pledge form.

CAN MY sponsors donate to mhi directly?

If you'd rather tell your donors to issue a donation directly to MHI, that's great!

• Cheque: Ask your donors to mail cheques directly to MHI at 206-404 McArthur Ave., Ottawa ON, K1K 1G8. The donor should also include a note indicating that:
  • the donation is supposed to support Tulipathon
  • the donation is supposed to support a particular individual and/or team (if applicable)
• Phone: Donors can call (613) 686-1825 to make a contribution over the phone using a credit card. Please leave a message if nobody is available to take the call, and MHI staff will phone the donor back as soon as possible.
• Cash: Please do not send cash in the mail. If donors wish to make a cash donation to MHI, they should arrange to set up an appointment at the MHI offices by calling (613) 686-1825. An MHI staff member will receive your cash at the Heartwood House offices at 404 McArthur Ave.
  

SOME OF MY DONORS WANT TO GIVE CASH/CHEQUES DIRECTLY TO ME WHILE OTHERS PREFER TO GIVE TO MHI DIRECTLY. HOW DO I HANDLE THIS?

If some of your donors give directly to MHI, do not include their names on the pledge form. Only include on the pledge form donors who gave their cash or cheques to you personally.

HOW DO I GET EXTRA COPIES OF THE PLEDGE FORM?

You can print off a copy of the pledge form using a home printer by downloading the pledge form from this page. If you don’t have a printer, please email office.admin@multifaithhousing.ca or call (613) 686-1825 and we’ll mail one to you.

when's the deadline to hand in my pledge forms and cheques?

We would prefer if you submitted your fundraising package by the day of the walk itself (May 29). However, we will happily accept forms and money for Tulipathon up until June 30, 2022!

is the farook tareen award still being presented this year?

You bet! The Farook Tareen Award is presented each year to the faith group that raises the most money at Tulipathon. It is named after the late Farook Tareen, who founded Tulipathon and gifted it as a fundraiser to MHI.
