MHI's Land Acknowledgement
Multifaith Housing Initiative is a provider of, and advocate for, affordable housing in the Ottawa area. As a buyer of land on unceded Indigenous territory and builder of housing on such land, we commit to acknowledging and honouring the peoples and land of the Algonquin Anishinabe Nation, and honouring all First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. The following is MHI's formal land acknowledgement:
"We acknowledge today that the work which Multifaith Housing is called upon to do occurs on the unceded, never surrendered lands of the Algonquin Anishinabe Nation. We also recognize that the spirit of this beautiful and bountiful territory stands with us in our wish to provide security through providing affordable housing."
- Written by Elder Albert Dumont of the Algonquin Nation, a Religious Patron of MHI.
