changes to our bylaws
On September 13, 2020, MHI plans to pass changes to our bylaws to help "pandemic proof" our organization. With the assistance of our lawyers, we've altered the wording to allow MHI to more easily meet our Annual General Meeting requirements in the future – regardless of changing circumstances related to the COVID-19 pandemic (or any other unforeseeable future event that may pose similar challenges). Please click the attached documents in the links below to view the following:
Please review the bylaw changes carefully. There will be an opportunity at the AGM to ask questions about the edits. You can also contact our office if you would like to make inquiries prior to September 13.
Please be advised that to pass these bylaw changes – as well as satisfy our regular AGM requirements – MHI will need 30% of the faith groups that took out a membership in 2019 to send representatives to vote on September 13. This means we need at least 24 congregations must appoint at least one delegate to join us at Vincent Massey Park.
- Current version of General Operating Bylaw 1A: Read the existing bylaw (MHI's General Operating Bylaw 1A) complete with track changes clearly demonstrating our edits to the current wording.
- Proposed new version of General Operating Bylaw 1A: Read Draft Bylaw No. 1A (clean), which we aim to pass on September 13, 2020.
